Aged Copper & Bronze

Copper and verdigris is the palette of aged metal — specifically the three-register color story of copper: the warm orange-red of new copper, the darkened ember of oxidized copper without patina, and the characteristic blue-green of mature verdigris. These colors appear together on copper rooftops, bronze sculpture, architectural details, and aged vessels, and the combination reads as simultaneously warm and sophisticated — the warmth of the copper contrasted against the cool, chemical quality of the patina. Ember-core-soft provides the palette's foundational warm copper — a slightly desaturated ember that reads as burnished metal rather than raw fire. Ember-shadow-muted gives the deep, darkened copper register — the color of copper that has oxidized to brown without yet developing patina, the specific warm dark of aged metal in shadow. Jade-tone-muted provides the characteristic patina register — the specific muted gray-green of copper verdigris, which reads as simultaneously aged, sophisticated, and slightly mysterious. Teal-tone-muted extends the patina into the slightly more chromatic range — the greener, more vivid verdigris seen in areas of more active oxidation. Amber-bloom-soft provides a warm mid-range that bridges the copper and patina registers, reading as burnished highlight and connecting the warm and cool poles of the palette.
